"Perfect Clothing Fit" Body Scanner

“The Intellifit Virtual Fitting Room is a high-accuracy scanner utilizing low-emitting radio waves to capture 200,000 points of data on a fully clothed individual in less than 20 seconds. It includes a high-volume transaction server to store a customer’s shopping profile and body measurement information.”

With locations in more than 70 malls across the United States, Me-Ality is a new way to shop. In less than 10 seconds, this free service scans your body, analyzes your measurements, and creates a shopping list designed specifically for your body. It recommends brands for every budget, from high-end designers like DVF, and Michael Kors, to more budget friendly brands such as Old Navy or Hollister.

This is such a great idea, because it seems like I wear a different size of pants at every store I go to. After a year of wear and tear I had to throw out my favourite pair of Buffalo jeans, I was super happy when Guess released a similar style. I bought the same size without trying on (I have a tendency to do this very often), and they were way too small. Obviously they don't understand the psychological toll this has on a woman. I'd love a machine to take the guess work out of trying on clothes.

However nifty, we shouldn't let a machine dictate our individuality, personal style, or fashion sense. It's important to remember that we only look beautiful when we feel beautiful.

DIY: Softer, Smoother, Younger Hands

Changing seasons, forgetting to moisturize, and daily life all take a toll on our hands, leaving them dry, flaky and irritated. DIY scrubs that contain 5+ ingredients take a lot of motivation to gather, concoct and actually apply. This two ingredient scrub is perfect (aka cheap + easy) to incorporate into our busy lives.
Pour 2 tablespoons of sugar into hands, and mix with equal parts of coconut or olive oil. Rub into hands, nails, and cuticles for one minute to slough off dead skin cells.
Scrubbing off the dry, dead, top layer of skin is the best way to reveal softer, younger skin. Don’t forget to moisturize afterwards to protect your new, beautiful skin.

Beat Seasonal Dehydration

With summer coming to an end, it’s almost time for autumn’s awful dry spell to hit. If you want to counteract the looming seasonal dehydration, look no further, because I’ve got you covered from head to toe.

Blistex Lip Medex

This is my go-to lip balm whenever my lips are dry, chapped, or irritated. It’s one of the best lip treatments in the world. It contains menthol which provides your lips with an immediate relieving, cooling sensation.

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque

This mask is for dehydrated skin, not dry skin. If used after exfoliating, it penetrates deep into pores very quickly, and provides skin with much needed moisture. It’s like giving your skin a big glass of water. This mask is great for every skin type, and will provide relief for even the most sensitive skin. You might also want to consider getting a stronger overnight face moisturizer.

Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator

I have bleached, and damaged my hair so many times throughout the years and Joico K-Pak is one of the only lines that actually work on my hair. It replenishes, and seals in moisture to dry and damaged hair. It also works as a great detangler, making hair manageable, hydrated, and silky soft.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning Lotion

This is a rich moisturizer that smells amazing! It has a silky finish, which is great because most deep conditioning lotions leave a sticky film afterwards that takes forever to dry. It’s also a fairly long lasting product, I find that if it’s applied once in the morning (or after a shower) and once before bed it will provide moisture for the whole day. Also, it makes your left-over tan from summer look deeper and so much better.

Professional Care

I would recommend going in for a natural mani/pedi to remove all of the dead, dry skin cells that summer left over. Another great professional remedy is a paraffin wax treatment which will help you seal in moisture and soften skin.

Coloured Tips!

Badgley Mischka, Bill Blass, The Blonds, Chanel, Donna Karan, Joy Cioci, Ruffian, and Thakoon are all modeling this gorgeous look for fall.
A hot, new nail trend, dominating the runways, is a modern twist on the classic French manicure. The only rule: no white tips! Try experimenting with different combinations of base and tip colours. I love the look of silver or gold tips, paired with a dark base. It reminds me of jewelry for your nails!
I love having fabulous nails, but I hate the thought of spending so much money and time at a salon. Last time I went for a French manicure, I ended up leaving with eyelash extensions, an eyebrow tint, a bellybutton piercing, and no money. Whew- talk about a staff that’s great at their job. Getting pampered is fun, but if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, keep reading! Here’s how to get this look at home.

After waiting for the base to dry, paint the tips your desired colour. Don’t have a steady hand? Use pieces of tape to mark off the tips, and then polish the uncovered area.Using a stencil creates a crisp line, free of mistakes. Carefully peel off the tape, and apply a top-coat to seal in your masterpiece. Once dried, clean up your cuticles with a polish remover pen (I love Sally Hansen Quick Care Clean-up for Manicures).
*Tip: For a half-moon arc, cut the tape to follow the natural curve of your nail.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is a treatment, used to improve the skin’s texture and appearance. A chemical solution is applied that penetrates the top layer of skin, causing it to dissolve. The new, revitalized skin will be smoother, softer, with reduced wrinkles.
Chemical peels are effective in treating hyperpigmentation including sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles. It can also be used to treat acne, clogged pores, melasma, fine lines and wrinkles. New lesions are less likely to surface after a chemical peel. Results will differ depending on the type of acid used.

Salicylic Acid:

A salicylic acid peel breaks down protein bonds, and acts as an anti-inflammatory to immediately reduce breakouts. It unclogs congested pores, lifts out blackheads, evens out skin tone while preventing future impurities. Since it exfoliates the skins surface, and deep inside pores it also reduces wrinkles and fine lines. I would recommend this peel for people with oily or acne prone skin.

Glycolic Acid:

Glycolic acid stimulates the production of collagen, a protein helps tighten and structure the skin. Once dead cells are removed, your skin is left with a rejuvenated, smooth, vibrant-looking glow. It is ideal for treating minor hyperpigmentation, dry areas, fine lines, and acne. I would recommend this people for people with dry, dehydrated, or acne prone skin.

Kojic Acid:

Kojic acid is a naturally occurring bleaching agent. It reduces hyperpigmentation, evens out skin tone, and brightens skin. It is typically used in combination with another type of peel. I would recommend this for those looking to treat hyperpigmentation or melasma.

Lactic Acid:

Lactic acid helps our skin to naturally moisturize itself. Lactic acid’s ability to draw moisture out to the surface of the skin makes it ideal for dehydrated or aging skin. As lactic acid is composed of larger molecules, it is much gentler than other peels. I would recommend this for sensitive, dehydrated, and mature skin. However, it is also great for the treatment of rosacea.
